Bainbridge Bearcats JV jumped out to an early lead on Leon (Fla.) High School and captured a 10-4 victory on Saturday at Cairo.
Eight runs in the first three innings allowed Bainbridge to put the game away early.
An RBI single by Dustin Hodge and an RBI single by Preston Strickland in the first inning and an RBI single by Hodge and a two-run single by Griffin Long during the second inning fueled Bainbridge Bearcats JV’s offense early.
Hodge racked up four RBIs on three hits for Bainbridge Bearcats JV.
Walt Burrell got the win for Bainbridge. He allowed four runs over four innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered six hits.
Jahn was charged with the loss for Leon’s JV. He walked two and struck out three.
Leon jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Jahn started the rally for Leon with a single. An error then moved Jahn from first to second.
Bainbridge answered Leon’s top inning with two runs of its own in the first.
Bainbridge increased its lead with three runs in the third. A clutch hit into a fielder’s choice scored Wright Cook to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Hodge’s double, scoring Tripp Alford and Caleb Boutwell.
Bainbridge stacked on two more in the fourth, scoring on an RBI single by Lawson Lane and an RBI single by Alford.
Bainbridge’s JV team will play Lincoln (Fla.) High School in Cairo, Ga., on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Then the JV Bearcats will travel to Thomasville Friday for a 4 p.m. game with Thomas County Central.
