Bainbridge Public Safety is seeking a white male who attempted to hold up a Dollar General at gunpoint on Saturday, Dec. 13, before making off with a customer’s cash.

The robbery happened at about 6:05 p.m. Saturday at the Dollar General located at 616 E. Shotwell Street in Bainbridge. A man wearing a bright orange hoodie sweatshirt and jeans came into the store and approached a cashier. While pointing a gun at her, the man demanded cash from the register, however, the cashier was so frightened she stumbled backward and fell, said Investigator Mark Esquivel.

The robber turned to a customer who had been looking at a nearby display and took $40 in cash she had been holding in her hand.

The suspect then fled the store and a witness said he got into a late 1990’s model burgundy-colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe. The SUV had mud tires equipped and had sun damage to its paint. The SUV was seen heading east on Shotwell Street.

Anyone who may have been shopping at the Dollar General around the time of the robbery, or anyone with more information on who the robber was, is asked to call Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Mark Esquivel at (229) 515-0097.
