Santa Claus reunites preschooler with her soldier dad

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAChristmas is a time of joy, especially when a soldier makes it home from Afghanistan just in time for a holiday surprise!

Bainbridge Public Safety helped coordinate a very special reunion for one little girl this afternoon. Elcan-King Elementary Pre-K student, Jayla Orange, had no idea when Santa walked through her classroom door this afternoon, that he had someone special waiting in the hallway.

Specialist Charles Orange, just home from Afghanistan after serving an eight-month tour, traveled to the school with Public Safety officers to surprise his 4-year-old daughter. He was welcomed by friends and family who lined the school’s hallways, many of whom had just been notified of this special reunion.

Specialist Orange and Jayla will be honored guests in the Bainbridge Christmas Parade, riding in Santa’s fire truck!

Charles Orange is a native of Donalsonville who is part of a U.S. Army engineer batallion. Jayla’s mom is Kanesha Orange and her teacher is Mary Williams.
