Local leaders and friends gathered in Brinson Friday for the unveiling of a new road sign that recognizes Decatur County, GA, as the Home of Miss Georgia 2014 Maggie Bridges.

There are actually 10 signslike the one pictured that are posted around Decatur County (just much smaller of course). Bridges, who represented Georgia at the Miss America scholarship pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey in September, grew up in the town of Brinson and attended school at nearby South Georgia Academy. Her family attends church at First United Methodist Church in Bainbridge, and she still calls Decatur County home when she’s not studying at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Since winning the Miss Georgia pageant, Bridges has been busy making official appearances all over the state, balancing it with her studies at Georgia Tech. Just this past week in October, Maggie was in New York City for three days visiting the hometown of Miss America 2014 Kira Kazantsev.
