The workers are taking down an older utility pole and replacing it with a new one, in a part of the busy street lined with historic homes. The portion of Shotwell Street between its intersections with Monroe Street and Hall Street was to be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Traffic was being detoured, although cars could still turn on to Monroe Street or onto Hall Street, depending on which way they were coming from.

Only large semis are being allowed through the work zone, due to the fact that they are unable to navigate turns required in the detour route.
