Reynolds Landing Boat Ramp Officially Opens at Lake Seminole

boatlandingThe Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division along with officials from Seminole County today dedicated the Reynolds Landing Boat Ramp in Seminole County, giving boaters and anglers improved access to Lake Seminole and providing opportunity to host large-scale fishing tournaments, a known economic boost for local communities.

This facility includes two, double-lane boat ramps with adjacent courtesy docks. The paved portion of the parking lot was expanded, and in total has the capacity to host up to 250 trucks and trailers. There is a designated weigh-in area and plans for restrooms at a later date. The area is open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The new ramp is one of 16 being constructed around the state as part of the Go Fish Georgia Initiative, which began in 2008. This initiative seeks to establish Georgia as a national fishing destination through a three-tiered approach: 1) improving the quality of fishing; 2) improving access to water bodies for fishing; and 3) increasing participation through active promotion and marketing of Georgia’s exceptional fishing resources.

With numerous small fishing tournaments and several large tournaments scheduling events at Lake Seminole, this new tournament-ready ramp and access area is prepared to be host to these and more events in the future.

Seminole County provided an in-kind match to Go Fish Georgia Initiative monies to build the ramp. Additionally, the county built the earthen ramp (on which the paved ramp sits) and also constructed the improved parking area.

Various agencies and individuals participated in the development of this area, including Seminole County personnel, Georgia DNR staff, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Watkins & Associates LLC.

Reynolds Landing Boat Ramp is located off Reynolds Landing Road, approximately 17 miles from Donalsonville.
