Bainbridge man stabbed during fight over card game, suspect arrested

Bainbridge Public Safety is investigating an aggravated assault which occurred on Powell Street at around midday Saturday, Oct. 11, BPS Deputy Director Frank Green said.

The incident allegedly happened during a card game, according to investigators, who believe the victim was assaulted, stabbed and robbed.

The victim was stabbed in the upper face; he was taken to Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Deputy Director Green said.

BPS arrested a suspect in the stabbing, who was identified as Jermaine Pugh, 30, of 1504 Hall Street, Bainbridge. Pugh faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana, illegal gambling and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.

A clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was located inside Pugh’s pants pocket when he was arrested, according to a BPS incident report.

Green said further charges may be pending related to the illegal gambling.

BPS Investigator Chris Jordan is in charge of the investigation.
