Bainbridge Public Safety arrested an 18-year-old Bainbridge man early Thursday morning in connection with a string of auto break-ins on Wednesday.
Brandon Synor Breedlove, 18, of 1334 E. River Road, Bainbridge, is charged with ten counts of entering an auto with intent of felony, according to the Decatur County Jail.
BPS Investigator Chip Nix said there were “numerous” reports of vehicles broken into in the general area of the Decatur County Fairgrounds on Wednesday morning. Two laptop computers, cell phones, sunglasses and a checkbook were among the items stolen; all of the cars were apparently left unlocked.
BPS investigators conducted a special patrol Wednesday night looking for suspects.
Breedlove was walking in the neighborhood around the fairgrounds, Nix said. When officers stopped Breedlove to talk with him, they found marijuana on his person, Nix said.
Breedlove also had on his person a cell phone that had been reported stolen Wednesday morning.
Investigators took Breedlove into custody and later charged him with 10 counts of entering auto.
“At this point, we don’t have any reason to connect him with any of the other recent [auto break-ins],” Nix said. “However, we aren’t ruling out the possibility.”
Because there may be more than one person committing the recent thefts in Bainbridge, citizens are asked to continue to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. People who live within Bainbridge city limits can call 248-2038; citizens of Decatur County can call 248-3044.
