The National Weather Service continues to predict a tropical development in the Northern Gulf of Mexico is likely for the end of this week. Previous reports have predicted the storm system will move south into the Gulf and then become a tropical development and move back on land in the Florida panhandle. Reports are predicting heavy amounts of rainfall as the primary impact to southwest Georgia.
An area of low pressure is expected to develop over the northeast Gulf and has a high likelihood of becoming tropical over the next few days, and the potential to become tropical within the next 48 hours. Forecast rain amounts have come down a bit due to greater certainty in the initial westward track of the low. However, the longer range track of the storm is still uncertain and could result in expected rain amounts being adjusted upwards or downwards. — NWS
