The National Weather Service in Tallahassee issued an urgent warning regarding this weekend’s expected temperatures – “Dangerous Heat”.

-Confidence is increasing in dangerous heat across the Tri-State by this weekend. Afternoon highs will push 100 degrees F in some areas, with heat indices approaching or potentially exceeding 105 degrees F.
-Excessive damaged vegetation across Hurricane damaged areas will yield increasing fire danger by the end of the week.
Overview:
High pressure will dominate the region’s weather through at least the next week, yielding hot and dry conditions. Afternoon highs will be pushing daily records Friday through the weekend in some locations. The last official 100 degree days (measured at each airport) for the following areas are as follows:
Dothan, AL: July 1, 2012
Valdosta, GA: August 23, 2014
Panama City, FL: August 26, 2014
Tallahassee, FL: August 23, 2016
Albany, GA: June 25, 2018
Hurricane affected regions could see temperatures a few degrees higher than surrounding areas due to excessive damaged timber and vegetation. This will also increase fire danger later this week and through the weekend as vegetation dries out.
