Bearcat Football: Parade in Bainbridge Monday Afternoon

The AAAAA State Champion Bainbridge Bearcat football team will be honored with a parade through Bainbridge Monday afternoon.

The parade will start at 5:00 at the Bainbridge Middle School and proceed down Shotwell Street to Scott Street where the procession will turn south and end at Centennial Field.  The parade will also feature the 1982 State Championship team alongside the players and coaches from the 2018 run.

The Bearcats started the season 3-5 before experiencing a dramatic turnaround after Hurricane Michael.  The Cats final loss of the season occurred on October 19th, a little more than a week after the catastrophic storm impacted southwest Georgia, as the team fell 38-0 to Region Champion Warner Robins.  The Cats then reeled off seven straight wins, including two region wins and five playoff victories.  The State Championship game featured a rematch of the October 19th game between the region rivals, Bainbridge and Warner Robins, with the Bearcats winning a triple overtime thriller 47-41.  The Bearcats were just the third team in state history to win a State Championship after entering the postseason with a .500 record.  The championship was the second in school history and first since 1982.
