Climax resident Chris Beaty made the trip to Washington, D.C. for the swearing in ceremony of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. While the crowd is massive, contrary to reports on national news networks, Mr. Beaty said the number of protesters is relatively low. “We’ve been here since 4:30 this morning and I haven’t seen a single protester yet” said Beaty.
Beaty was able to secure standing room only tickets to the inauguration through Congressman Sanford Bishop’s office and arrived early to get a good spot. “We got on the train at 4:00 a.m. and got into D.C. around 4:20. We went straight to the Washington Mall and made our way through security. We got to our spot about 6:00 this morning and we’ll be standing here until he makes his speech at 12. Security was pretty tight – TSA was conducting that and they wouldn’t let you bring anything in.”
The weather is cold, but the rain hadn’t set in just yet – Beaty described the weather as “cold, but there’s 10,000 people around you, so that helps”.
