Here is a weekend weather update from the National Weather Service and the Decatur County Emergency Management:
“A wintry mix remains possible across portions of southeast Alabama and southwestern Georgia early Saturday morning. The latest forecast guidance shows the potential for freezing rain decreasing, therefore, any wintry precipitation that falls will likely be sleet across the region. Overall, chances remain low at this time in this occurring, as precipitation could clear out of the area prior to cold air reaching the region.
There is high confidence in impactful wind chills affecting the region Saturday and Sunday mornings. Breezy north winds and low temperatures in the low to mid 20s will yield wind chills in the teens across much of the region.”
Although the chance for freezing rain and snow are minimal, the cold temperatures and low wind chill should be monitored. Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for north Georgia counties as parts of the state could see as much as 3″ of snow over the weekend.
