The Bainbridge Bearcat football team defeated the Warner Robins Demons last night to finish in second place in Region 1-AAAAA. Thomas County Central beat Harris County 49-27. Both Bainbridge and Thomas County Central finished 3-1 in region play, but Central won the head to head matchup and, as a result, the region championship.
With the win, the Bearcats secured at least one home playoff game next week (the opponent is still tbd). This is the second straight year under Coach Jeff Littleton that the Cats have hosted a playoff game, a feat that was relatively uncommon in years past.
Last night’s game saw plenty of action, but an interception returned for a touchdown by Zion McGee, an 83 yard touchdown run by Dameon Pierce and a 35 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brett McLaughlin to AJ Cooper just before the half proved to be enough. Freshman kicker Caleb Harris was perfect on extra points and nailed a 24 yard field goal on the night as the Bearcats bested Warner Robins 24-21.
