Pitchers had a tough Friday night during the game between Thomas County Central and Bainbridge, as the two teams put up 17 runs combined in a 9-8 Thomas County Central win.
The two varsity teams totaled 16 hits in the game.
Colby Melton helped Thomas County Central take the lead for good in the sixth inning. Julius Guyton was hit by a pitch to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a stolen base.
Dylan Burton recorded the win for the Yellow Jackets. He allowed one run over 2 2/3 innings. Burton struck out none, walked one and gave up four hits.
Stan Long took the loss for Bainbridge, striking out three. Tyler Braswell started the game for the Bearcats, ringing up four.
TCC closer Johnathan Robinson put away the final out to record the save.
The bottom of the first saw TCC take an early lead, 6-0. A single by Stone Stephenson, scoring Eli Taylor started the inning off. The Yellow Jackets pushed more runs across when Smith and Stephenson scored on a two-run single by Burton, Carter scored on an RBI single by Carlton Ogletree, and Burton and Ogletree scored on a two-run single by Guyton.
Bainbridge matched its one-run second inning with one more in the third. In the second, Bainbridge scored on a solo home run by Tyler Storey.
It didn’t take long for Thomas County Central to respond as it scored one run of its own in the second. The Yellow Jackets scored on a fielder’s choice.
