A truck driver from Cairo has won nearly half a million dollars in the Georgia Lottery Instant Game, 777 Series.
Charles Clark, 59, claimed his award on Tuesday at the Lottery District Office in Tifton from the lottery ticket he purchased on Friday the 13th. He was awarded $477,777 for his lucky purchase.
“Both of my granddaughters were born on that day, and my fuel number is 13,” said Clark in a WALB interview. “Thirteen is a lucky number for me.”
Clark said in the interview he purchased an instant ticket which won him another ticket. The second ticket was the lucky one.
“I got two tickets, and the second ticket won,” he said in the interview. “I had to get it scanned. I didn’t believe it.”
“I’m taking my aunt and uncle to Biloxi,” Clark said in the report.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
