ATHENS, Ga. — Following a 31-14 victory at Vanderbilt in the team’s 2015 Southeastern Conference opener, the No. 7-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are set to face SEC rival South Carolina.

Georgia is 2-0, 1-0 in the SEC, and moved up two spots in this week’s Associated Press Top-25. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 1-1 this season and enter Saturday’s 6 p.m. ET contest at Sanford Stadium following a 26-22 loss at home vs. Kentucky.

Head coach Mark Richt said on Sunday evening that his team must be ready for South Carolina’s best shot following the Gamecocks’ loss this past Saturday.

“Any team that has a loss is always a dangerous team to play the next game,” Richt said. “It’s just human nature to correct things. Your pride gets hurt a little bit and then you come back and have a great performance, so we have to be ready.”

Both team’s quarterbacks are sure to get plenty of attention on Saturday. For the Bulldogs, Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey have combined for 333 yards through the air and have tossed three touchdowns and no interceptions through two games. Still, Richt says there is room for improvement for the Bulldog passing attack.

UGA_logo-WEB“We just have to get better at throwing and catching, period,” Richt added. “We have thrown and caught pretty well in practice. We just did not have it happen this last game. First game we threw and caught it pretty darn good. We are one of the top pass efficiency schools in our league right now, but we just did not have a great first half, in particular. Second half was much better. We have the right ingredients as far as quarterbacks, protection, receivers and tight ends, so we’ll get better.”

South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch left the Kentucky game early due to an injured shoulder, and Richt said on Sunday that he and his staff have not yet looked at the USC quarterback situation.

“We just finished grading film from our game on Saturday so we haven’t really gotten into that yet. I haven’t had a chance to talk with (Defensive Coordinator) Jeremy (Pruitt) about it but it will not be long until we start figuring out what it means as far as the quarterback situation right now.”

Kickoff Saturday is set for 6 p.m. ET. For more information on the game, follow the official Twitter account of the Georgia Bulldogs @UGAAthletics.
