A man wanted by police in connection with 2 Florida convenience store robberies was finally caught Tuesday when he allegedly attempted to hold up a store in Cairo, Ga.
Robert Lee Perkins, 30, was arrested by the Cairo Police Department at around Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Perkins is a suspect in a robbery that happened Monday morning at around 11 a.m. at the Hinson Country Store, located off U.S. Highway 27 near Havana, Fla. Surveillance video from the Hinson Country Store shows store employee Dipti Patel as a man holds a knife to her throat while robbing the store of more than $1,000 in cash. Ms. Patel told WCTV she recognized Perkins because she had known him since he was young and also knew his relatives.
Perkins is also a suspect in a July 26 robbery at the Wayside Food Store, about a mile north of the Hinson Country Store off U.S. 27. Perkins will be charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault in connection with that incident.
He also faces charges of armed robbery in connection with Monday and Tuesday’s incidents.
