Very few universities’ stadiums are in major cities and even fewer are downtown in that city and that’s part of what makes Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, one of the most unique settings in all of college football. Bobby Dodd Stadium, home of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets sits just a few short blocks away from downtown Atlanta and whether it is a day game or a night game, provides one of the best setting to watch a college football game. Bobby Dodd Stadium is the oldest continuously used on-campus site for college football in the South and but permanent seats weren’t put into place in 1913 when the first grand stands were built.
At one time the joke was that Bobby Dodd Stadium was a quiet place where engineering students went to study when the chairs in the library squeaked too loud but not anymore. Ever since the North and South end seat were added and given the Jackets’ most recent success on the gridiron, Bobby Dodd Stadium is as loud and rambunctious as ever. These days when that mint condition Model A rolls out of the tunnel in front of the home crowd, it does so in one of the finest college football stadiums in all the land.
