Miss Georgia 2014 Maggie Bridges took her last walk in stage as Miss Georgia on Saturday night. Maggie also reportedly sung Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” with an acapella group backing her, according to the Columbus, Ga. newspaper.
Maggie also crowned Betty Cantrell as Miss Georgia 2015.
Maggie and her two sisters, Annie and Ellie, and two brothers, Perry and Maddox, together sang “In Christ Alone” during Friday night’s portion of the pageant, and on Thursday night, Maggie performed a solo.
The winner of the Miss Georgia pageant will go on to compete in the 2015 Miss America pageant that will air Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
BETTY CANTRELL NAMED MISS GEORGIA 2015 AND VICTORIA SMITH NAMED MISS GEORGIA’S OUTSTANDING TEEN 2015 DURING THE FINAL NIGHT OF COMPETITION AT THE 71st ANNUAL MISS GEORGIA PAGEANT
The 71st Annual Miss Georgia Pageant concluded tonight at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia. Ninety women from across the state have been competing for academic scholarship and the titles of Miss Georgia 2015 and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2015. Contestants have competed in preliminary competitions of Interview, Lifestyle and Fitness, Talent, and Evening Wear leading up to tonight’s final competition.
The night began with the naming of the top ten contestants for the Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen competitions. The top ten outstanding teen contestants were: Elizabeth Leal (Greater Atlanta’s OT), Taylor Burrell (Fayette County’s OT), Ashton Leddon (Middle West Georgia’s OT), Kaelin Bradley (Captial City’s OT), Rayven Bailey (North Georgia’s OT), Elizabeth Stanford (West Point Lake’s OT), Karson Pennington (Historic Southern Plains OT), Victoria Smith (Macon’s OT), Kelsey Hollis (Warner Robins’ OT), Yuri-Grace Ohashi (Starr’s Mill’s OT). The top ten contestants then competed in Lifestyle and Fitness, Talent, and Evening Wear competitions. For her talent, Victoria performed a Broadway tap dance to, “Ease on Down the Road.” Before announcing the finalists, overall awards for the highest score in each category were given. Each contestant received a $250 scholarship. They include: Interview-Ashton Leddon (Middle West Georgia’s OT), Talent- Kelsey Hollis (Warner Robins’ OT), Evening Wear and On-stage Question-Rayven Bailey (North Georgia) and Victoria Smith (Macon), Lifestyle and Fitness-Meredith Hunt (University of Georgia’s OT). Victoria Smith was then selected as Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2015, receiving $2500 in scholarship awards, and the opportunity to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant on August 1, 2015, in Orlando, Florida. Also receiving scholarship awards were Elizabeth Stanford (West Point Lake’s OT) first runner-up ($1500), Yuri-Grace Ohashi (Starr’s Mill’s OT) second runner-up ($1000), Kelsey Hollis (Warner Robins) third runner-up ($750), and Rayven Bailey (North Georgia’s OT) fourth runner-up ($500). The remaining top ten receive a $250 scholarship.
The top ten Miss Georgia contestants were: Betty Cantrell (Warner Robins), Brooke Doss (Troup), Charlene Bibeau (International City), Madison Brett (Southeast Georgia), Camille Sims (Fulton County), Adeline Kenerly (Capital City), Amarinda Trear (Presidential Pathways), Patricia Ford (Cobb County), Hilary Pulos (Apple Capital), and Rosa Campos (Conyers). After competing in Lifestyle and Fitness, Talent, and Evening Wear competitions, Betty Cantrell (Warner Robins), Brooke Doss (Troup), Camille Sims (Fulton County), Adeline Kenerly (Capital City), and Patricia Ford (Cobb County), were named the top five finalists. The top five then answered on-stage questions before learning that Betty Cantrell was selected as Miss Georgia 2015. She receives $15,000 in scholarship awards and will represent Georgia in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 13, 2015. For her talent, Betty performed a classical vocal to, “Tu Tu Piccolo Iddio.”
Additionally, scholarships were awarded to: Adeline Kenerly (Capital City) first runner-up ($7,500), Patricia Ford (Cobb County) second runner-up ($5,000), Brooke Doss (Troup County) third runner-up ($3,500), and Camille Sims (Fulton County) fourth runner-up ($2,500). The remaining top ten receive a $1,500 scholarship. Before announcing the finalists, overall awards for the highest score in each category were given. Each contestant received a $500 scholarship. They include: Interview-Adeline Kenerly (Capital City), Talent-Betty Cantrell (Warner Robins), Evening Wear-Betty Cantrell (Warner Robins), Lifestyle and Fitness-Adeline Kenerly (Capital City) and Patricia Ford (Cobb County), On-stage Question-Betty Cantrell (Warner Robins).
