A Bainbridge man sought by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office was arrested in Florida, three weeks after a warrant was issued for his arrest on child molestation.
Decatur County Sheriff’s investigators said they requested help from the U.S. Marshals Service, whose mission is to capture fugitives, after Erik Randall Johnson, 36, of Bainbridge allegedly “evaded arrest” after learning he was wanted.
Captain Gale Bowyer with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Erik Johnson’s arrest on April 16. Investigator Brian Donalson said Decatur County deputies contacted officials with the U.S. Marshals Service in Panama City, Fla. for help with finding Johnson.
Finally, at about 11:40 p.m. on Monday, May 4, Erik Johnson turned himself in to authorities at the Wakulla County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office, about 60 miles south of Bainbridge in Crawfordville, Fla.
Johnson was transported to the Decatur County Jail and is still there after he was denied bond in a Magistrate Court hearing, according to Captain Bowyer.
