Cairo High School Head Football Coach Tom Fallaw announced this week he is stepping down from his coaching job.
Fallaw and Grady County school officials didn’t give any reasons for the move; but Fallaw is expected to stay with Grady County Schools in another capacity.
In 12 years as the Cairo Syrupmakers’ head coach, Fallaw has won seven region championship. The Syrupmakers were the Class AAA state football champions in 2008, and the Class AAA runners-up in 2007.
Cairo also made it to the state quarterfinals in 2010 and the state semifinals in 2011.
Fallaw’s career 116 wins ties him with Hall of Fame coach West Thomas for the winningest football coach in Cairo High School history. (Cairo High School’s stadium is named West Thomas Field).
Fallaw has a career record of 116 wins and only 34 losses.
According to the Cairo High School website, Fallaw also teaches physical education and weightlifting.
