Cody Chapman was strong at the plate and on the mound in carrying the Miller County Pirates Varsity to a 3-2 victory over Baconton Charter on Tuesday.
Chapman got on base two times in the game for the Miller County Pirates Varsity. He singled in the first inning.
Chapman worked out of nine tough spots for the Miller County Pirates Varsity. He pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on no hits. Chapman faced his toughest situation in the fifth inning.
The Miller County Pirates Varsity held off Baconton Charter, as Baconton Charter was unable to overcome a three-run fifth inning deficit.
Baconton Charter scored two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Christian Bostick. Still, Baconton Charter couldn’t draw even.
Cole Vann got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out 11, walked three and surrendered three hits.
The lead stayed with the Miller County Pirates Varsity after the first, when they scored two runs on two singles.
