Keyton Smith went 1-2, helping Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Varsity to a 4-1 victory over Cairo on Friday at Home.
He doubled in the first inning.
Johnathan Robinson put together a nice outing. Cairo managed just two hits off of Robinson, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his two innings of work.
Doug Smith got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed one run over four innings. Smith struck out three, walked two and gave up two hits.
Brick Kinni ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Varsity never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Smith.
Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets Varsity tacked on another two runs in the second. A passed ball scored Noah Harnevious for the inning’s first run.
That was followed up by Eli Taylor’s single, bringing home Julius Guyton.
The fourth inning saw Cairo score its only run on the day on a fielder’s choice.
