The 2015 Georgia Peanut Farm Show and Conference was held at the University of Georgia campus in Tifton, Ga. on Thursday, Jan. 15. A number of awards were given out.

Farmers, citizens can help with Peanut Proud’s efforts to fight hunger, at home and abroad
Peanut Proud was established to fight hunger, at home and abroad, and they are making humanitarian donations of peanuts to those in need.
Peanut Proud Greg Grimsley said 842 million people are under-nourished worldwide, and as many as 8,000 children die each day from starvation.
“Peanut butter can help prevent hunger. Peanuts are nutritious, healthy, safe, life-saving and readily available, with no refrigeration necessary,” Grimsley said.
Money donated to Peanut Proud is used to buy peanut butter from Tara Foods of Albany, Ga., who puts the Peanut Proud label on the jars to show that they came from Southeast U.S. Farmers who want to make a difference. Tara Foods also makes peanut butter for distribution in Kroger supermarkets.
Grimsley encouraged agricultural companies, such as peanut buying plants, who want to help to buy at least a $12 case of peanut butter for Peanut Proud. Last year, Peanut Proud donated 217,000 jars of peanut butter, a 19.25 increase from the previous year. The peanut butter was distributed by Southern AG Carriers of Albany, Ga., in cooperation with Georgia grower organizations.
