NWS: Tropical Storm Christobal Forms near Gulf of Mexico

Three days into the 2020 hurricane season, Tropical Storm Christobal (2020’s third named storm) has formed near the Gulf of Mexico.  According to forecasts, the storm is expected to brush the eastern edge of the Bay of Campeche in Mexico before making it’s way north into the Gulf of Mexico.  The current projection calls for the storm to move in a northern direction and make landfall along the Louisiana coast, although some models show the storm turning slightly east or west.

For southwest Georgia, the current forecast means heavy rains approaching the area this weekend and into next week.  Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
