AAA: GEORGIA PUMP PRICES CONTINUE TO DECREASE
ATLANTA, Ga., (February 10, 2020) — Georgia gas prices declined at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.26 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 4 cents less than a week ago, 20 cent less than last month, and 13 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs $33.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $7.20 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.74 per gallon.
“Elevated stocks and low demand have helped to push the national average lower,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “As these trends continue, Georgia motorists will likely continue to see pump prices decline through the week.”
Winter Pump Prices Continue to Fall
The national gas price average is $2.43, which is 4 cents cheaper than last week, 17 cents less than last month, and 15 cents more than a year ago. New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) has revealed that a high level of gasoline stocks and low demand continue to put downward pressure on pump prices across the country. For total domestic gasoline stocks, last week’s level – 261.1 million barrels – is in line with the previous week’s level. As a result, when compared to last year, total stocks are 3.3 million barrels higher this year. On the demand front, although EIA estimates that gas demand increased by 139,000 b/d to reach 8.93 million b/d last week, it is still lower than last year’s 9.07 million b/d at this time.
