The second week of the Fall Term of Grady County Trials commenced with one trial. The trial was the State v. Timothy Henderson. Henderson was charged with shooting the Hud’s One Stop Convenience Store clerk during an attempted robbery. The clerk survived after intensive medical attention. Henderson shot the clerk with a high powered rifle. A jury was selected on Monday September 23, 2019 and the Jury returned a verdict on September 24th. After finding the Defendant guilty, Judge Heather H. Lanier sentenced the Defendant to 35 years, 20 to serve in the State Penitentiary. Additionally, he was ordered to pay $200,000 in restitution due to the medical bills to the victim. District Attorney Joe Mulholland stated “This was a very tough case but I commend the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, ADA’s Quinn and Richardson, Victim Services Charrisse Martin, and the victim for travelling from Illinois to confront the Defendant. I also thank the Jury for their hard work. Business owners should be able to do their job without fear they may be harmed. We will continue to protect our businesses against these offenders.”
