Man Holds Another at Gunpoint – Ends in Arrest with Multiple Charges

Bainbridge Public Safety Officers responded to the area of Monroe Street behind Grocery Outlet in the early morning of Saturday, April 27th in reference to a man held at gunpoint.

Officer Charles Strickland was in the immediate area and located the alleged suspect, later identified as John McBride, in the 600 block of Pine Street.  McBride ran from Strickland, and Strickland pursued him as he ran behind the residences of the 600 block of Pine Street towards Hall Street.  Captain Tim Mixon and Officer Ladaric Jones arrived on Hall Street. Strickland, Mixon, and Jones surrounded McBride in the 700 block of Hall Street.  Mixon and Strickland detained McBride as Strickland and Sergeant Pat Bryant searched the immediate area where McBride was caught.

A stolen firearm, approximately $1400 in cash, a plastic bag of suspected controlled substance, and suspected marijuana were all located on McBride’s person or in the immediate area.

After Strickland met with the original complainant and completed his investigation, John McBride was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana less than 1 oz., Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
