Longtime Decatur County law enforcement officer Redell Walton has been named the Chief of the newly formed Grady County School Police Department. Chief Walton was hired in mid-January and was officially sworn in by Judge Wallace Cato Monday afternoon.
Walton has served in many roles throughout his law enforcement career, but most recently worked as a Lieutenant for the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department. The newly formed Grady County School Police Department will serve the entire school system in Grady County with 5 officers total. Because the department is new, Walton has spent the last month and half developing policy and putting together rules and regulations.
“It has been an honor to work in Decatur County” said Walton. “I’m looking forward to this new opportunity”.
