PRESS RELEASE
Cairo, GA (March 4, 2019) – On Sunday, March 3, 2019, the GBI was requested to assist the Cairo Police Department regarding the murder of Jimmy Lee Bryant, 86, at his MLK Jr. Drive residence in Cairo, Georgia.
Agents and police interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined an ongoing domestic dispute that started earlier in the afternoon that eventually led to Derrick Clark, 31, of Donalsonville, GA, shooting Mr. Bryant in the residence of his yard, where he later died. Clark was arrested in the Whigham, GA area by Grady County Deputies shortly after the incident took place and transported to the Grady County Jail. Clark is charged with Felony Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. This case is active an ongoing. Once the case is complete, it will be turned over to DA Joe Mulholland’s Office.
