BPS: Local Business Burglarized, Firearms Stolen

Update 11/16/18

Three men have been arrested after a violent crime spree in Bainbridge.

PRESS RELEASE

On Monday, November 12th at 11:41pm, Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Jessica Matthews was
dispatched to Flint River Outfitters at 400 North Clay Street in reference to an alarm.

Upon arrival at 11:44pm, Officer Matthews observed a small window near the main entrance door
which was broken. Officer Matthews called for backup and Sergeant Toby Miller, Captain Jack Bunting,
and Officer Jamie Marshburn arrived on scene.

The officers noticed that a second window near the main door had also been broken, and that shards of
glass were on the ground. They were able to look inside the building through the broken window and
could see shards of glass on the floor, as well as a Christmas tree that had been disturbed and
ornaments knocked off. There was also a rock on the floor located to the right of the broken window.

The wood window surround was wet, indicating that someone had climbed through the window to gain
access to the building.

As officers continued their investigation around the perimeter of the building, they found that someone
had failed at attempts to break several additional windows. A door located at the back of the building
also had marks on it indicating that someone had tried but failed to gain access.

The owner of the business and Investigator Chris Jordan arrived on scene and noticed that the power to
the building had been turned off at the breaker box located behind the building.

The main entrance door of the building was unlocked by the business owner to allow the officers to
clear the building of any possible suspects. Upon entry, officers noticed that two large wooden doors
leading into the gun room had been pulled apart and that of the doors was broken with a locked padlock
still attached. Glass shards were laying all over the floor inside the gun room, and multiple gun display
cases were smashed. Guns remaining in the cases were all aligned in rows, with numerous empty spots.

It did not appear that any other items inside the store had been disturbed or were missing.

It was determined that 13 firearms were missing from the business:
