The election results in Decatur County are clear – regardless of how the metro areas in our state vote, southwest Georgia is red. Republican candidates overwhelmingly won the majority of votes in southwest Georgia in Tuesday night’s General Election. Democratic challengers won their fare share of ballots cast, but the numbers show a significant disparity between Republican and Democratic tallies. As a whole, the statewide races were very close – almost every statewide race was decided by less than 10%. However in southwest Georgia, that was not the case. In Decatur County, the only exceptions were two County Commission races where the Democrat Incumbents retained their seats by healthy margins.
