GBI: Lake Oconee Homeowner Reports Shooting an Intruder, Murder Warrant Issued (Updated 9/5/18)

UPDATE: Homeowner Knew Victim from October Hunting Trip, Bond Denied

According to a report from Online Athens, the homeowner, Chad Haufler, Sr, knew the victim from a hunting trip in October of 2017 and the two had become friends.  Although Haufler initially told police that two or three people had invaded his home (and he had shot one), his story changed several times.  You can read the full details here.

Because Haufler was not a permanent resident of Greene County (the Lake Oconee home was a recently purchased vacation home) and because he was considered a flight risk, the judge in the case has denied bond.
