Shooting at Three Oaks Apartments, in Valdosta
VPD officer was dispatched on Friday, July 8, 2016, at 7:57 a.m, for a damage to property call, to Three Oaks Apartments.
Upon arrival, VPD officer encountered a male in the parking lot. Gun shots were exchanged.
VPD Chief of Police Brian Childress requested the GBI to take over the investigation of the shooting.
The VPD appreciates the quick assistance and response of the Lowndes County Sherrif’s Office, Georgia State Patrol and all surrounding agencies.

Reports from Valdosta are conflicted at this time. We have received information that there was not an officer shot, however, those are unconfirmed at this time as well. We are still receiving information at this time.

There are reports that an officer with the Valdosta Police Department was involved in an exchange of gunfire this morning. There is no confirmation on the condition of the officer or the suspect at this time. According to preliminary reports, multiple agencies are on scene.
