Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Busts Convicted Felon

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Aaron Sayre, a convicted felon serving probation, Thursday morning during a probation check.

According to Investigator Jason Williams, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the probation office with routine checks.  At the home of convicted felon Joshua Aaron Sayre, they conducted a “consent search” and discovered a small quantity of marijuana on his dresser.  In the closet, they found a small fire safe.  Inside the safe were three guns (felony charge for a convicted felon), one of which had the serial number missing (another felony).

Sayre admitted the weapons belonged to him and he had purchased them “off the street”.

Joshua Aaron Sayre was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of an altered item (firearm), possession of marijuana (misd), and parole violation.
