Keith Lyle went 2-3 as Bainbridge Bearcats varsity baseball team took home a 7-4 victory over Early County in seven innings on Wednesday.
Lyle, who had 2 RBIs, singled in the first and sixth innings of the game, which was played in Blakely, Ga.
Will Kelley got it done on the hill for the Bearcats on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Greyson Harrell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out three.
Bainbridge didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on.
Bainbridge added three more runs in the top of the third. Dustin Hodge scored to get Bainbridge Bearcats Varsity on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Caleb Boutwell’s single, bringing home Russell Wheeler.
Three runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Early County close its deficit to 6-4. A two-run single by Jake Sealy and a walk by Trip McDonald set off Early County rally. Finally, Bainbridge’s Lawson Lane induced an inning-ending ground out from Ladarious Teal.
