James Butler to present Super Bowl Golden Football to Bainbridge High School

The NFL is celebrating the golden anniversary of its signature event with its Super Bowl Honor Roll campaign. The initiative recognizes schools that contributed to the Super Bowl’s 50 year history with the presentation of a commemorative golden football.

The golden footballs will be presented to high schools across the country for every player or head coach who graduated from their school and was on an active Super Bowl roster.

James Butler will be at Bainbridge High School to present the golden football to his Alma Mater on Saturday, January 30. The presentation will take place during half-time of the boys’ basketball game between the Bearcats and Thomas County Central.

James Butler is a 2001 Honor Graduate of Bainbridge High School. Butler was an All-Region player for the Bearcats and went on to be an All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive back for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

He was a member of the New York Giants team that beat the previously undefeated New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII Sunday Feb. 3, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz.

After several seasons with the New York Giants, Butler Jr. finished his career with the St. Louis Rams. He is now a successful businessman with a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech University.

He is also well knoen locally for giving back to Decatur County, GA, where he was raisedz by holsing youth football camps and helping out local families with Thanksgiving meals and back-to-school haircuts.
