UPDATE: The search has been suspended as of Thursday, Nov. 19, because authorities believe the two escapees have moved out of the initial search area. The U.S. Marshals Service will continue to look for the fugitives.

WCTV – Thomas County authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from a work detail Tuesday around noon.

Officials with the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office say the men walked away from a Georgia Department of Corrections detail along Boat Ramp Road outside of Thomasville. Investigators set up a 3-mile initial perimeter around the scene, using K-9 units and a helicopter.

Joshua Fountain, 28, and James Waldron, 37, were incarcerated at Thomas County Prison.

Fountain is described as 5’5″ and 140 lbs. with blue eyes.

Waldron is 5’10” and 170 lbs with hazel eyes.

Georgia Department of Corrections online records indicate Fountain was serving 10 years in prison for robbery by force.

Waldron was in prison on a four year sentence for burglary.
