Plans for the Donalsonville-Seminole County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Harvest Festival are shaping up. A fun-filled day Saturday, October 17, begins with the annual running of Joyce’s Jog and continues with a day of family fun.
Joyce’s Jog is a 5K and 1-mile fun run that raises money for breast cancer research. Registration starts at 6:15 a.m. Saturday at Ponder Enterprises office on 3rd Street in Donalsonville. For more info, visit joycesjog.com
The Josh Buckley Band has been booked as the event’s featured entertainment. The fun-loving county music band will be performing from 1-3 p.m. on the gazebo in the city park.
Always a crowd pleaser, the car, truck, motorcycle show and swap meet is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. Judging is set for 2:00 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 3:00 p.m., including best of show, and people’s choice.
New this year will be an art display and sale. All mediums will be accepted. The show and sale will be held at the Donalsonville Lions Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The peanut recipe contest returns this year and for the first time the contest will include recipes using pecans as well. The contest will be held Friday, October 16, at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 122 East Second Street. Categories include appetizers, cookies, main dishes, pies, cakes and candies.
