Seminole County Lady Indians win first two games of region tournament

The Lady Indians top Berrien in back-and-forth affair, 8-7

Seminole County varsity softball player Hannah Buczek brought home the winning run as the Lady Indians hung on to beat Fitzgerald 5-3 on Tuesday.

In the sixth inning, Jasmine Wilson singled, Buczek doubled, plating Wilson.

The Lady Indians would not relinquish the lead as Fitzgerald was unable to weather a three-run seventh inning deficit.

Despite its efforts, Fitzgerald couldn’t finish the comeback.

Evan Hall was the winning pitcher for Seminole County. She allowed three runs over six innings. Hall struck out nine, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Fitzgerald’s Madelyn Stone ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

In the top of the first, Fitzgerald grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Fitzgerald got things going when Kassaundra Johnson singled. Wimbley singled, scoring Kight. Fitzgerald then tacked on more runs when Johnson scored on an RBI single by Kristy Dale.

Seminole County tallied one run in each of the first, third and seventh. In the first, the Lady Indians scored on a groundout by Emily Brown, plating Carlee Burke.

The Lady Indians built upon their lead with one run in the seventh. Dejah Martin kicked things off with a single. That was followed up by Martin’s single.

The Lady Indians’ Carlee Burke had two hits and stole three bases in the game.

After seven lead changes in Monday’s game, the Seminole County Lady Indians finally pulled out a 8-7 win over Berrien.

The Lady Indians took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. The Lady Indians went up for good on an RBI double by Emily Brown off Dillard, scoring Erin Dow.

Brown racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lady Indians.

In the top of the third, the Lady Indians grabbed the early lead, 3-0. The Lady Indians pushed more runs across when Burke scored on an error and Williams scored.

Berrien answered the Lady Indians’ top inning with four runs of its own in the third. Berrien scored on an RBI single by Osborne, an RBI double by Griffen, an error, and an RBI double by Cotton.
