SEC Schedule Ranking: #6 Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M Aggies - TThe Aggies in 2014 were a perfect example of fool’s gold. Nowhere to be found in any of the preseason ranking but jumped all the way to number 9 after defeating an eventual 7-6 South Carolina team. Texas A&M were a fumbled quarterback exchange in Jordan-Hare Stadium & one overtime period in Jerry World from being a one conference win team.

Texas A&M opens the 2015 season in Houston, Texas, at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Arizona State Sun Devils who finished the 2014 season as a surprising 10-3 in Todd Graham’s third season in the desert. Back-to-back home games against Ball State & Nevada follow before another neutral site game and conference opener against the Arkansas Razorbacks in AT&T Stadium, aka Jerry World, in Arlington, Texas. The Aggies were able to force overtime & hang out for the win last year in this game so I expect another Texas-style showdown between these two on September 26th.

The month of October will make or break Texas A&M’s season as they open the month with Mississippi State in the friendly confines of Kyle Field in front of ‘The 12th Man’ before their bye week on October 10th. Following the week off, the Alabama Crimson Tide roll into town fresh off of their game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. I’m sure that

the 59-0 score against Alabama in 2014 will be fresh in the minds of every Aggie when that game kicks off. October 24th brings the first true road game for Texas A&M when they travel to Oxford, Mississippi, against the Ole Miss Rebels. Halloween will bring a home game against the South Carolina Gamecocks to close out the month. The four teams Texas A&M will play in October earned a total of 38 wins in 2014.

November isn’t as daunting as October but it is still nothing to scoff at as it opens with a home date against the Auburn Tigers which has proved to be one of the most entertaining series in the SEC West since Texas A&M joined the conference. The last two meetings have been decided by 4 & 3 points respectively. The Aggies get a breather from conference play on the 14th with FCS opponent Western Carolina visits College Station for the final home game of the season. The Catamounts finished the 2014 season 7-5 & third in the Southern Conference with a 5-2 record. The Aggies finish the regular season with back-to-back road games at Vanderbilt and in Baton Rouge against the Bayou Bengals.

The Aggies have recruited as well as any team in the country over the past three seasons. They are going to need all the help they can get in 2015 but they will have it from The 12th Man as they will be 105,000-plus strong in the stands for 2015 since phase two of their renovation will be complete at the start of the football season. Let’s see what Kevin Sumlin has up his sleeve for what happens on the field.

Renovations of Kyle Field set to open prior to the 2015 season.
