The week of trials for Decatur County May Term of Superior Court consisted of two impaneled jury trials. District Attorney Joseph K. Mulholland began a jury trial Monday, May 4, 2015 for the case of Nathaniel Emanuel Griffin. The impaneled jury found Nathaniel Griffin guilty on one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon. Chief Judge A. Wallace Cato sentenced Nathaniel Emanuel Griffin to 25 years in prison.

With the assistance of Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Robert Humphrey, evidence at trial showed that Mr. Griffin on or about July 4, 2014 did make an assault upon Christopher Carter with the intent to rob by pointing and firing a handgun at Mr. Carter as he drove away in his vehicle. The incident occurred at the Winn Dixie parking lot in Bainbridge, Georgia. Mr. Mulholland stated in closing arguments, “I frequently shop at the Winn Dixie with my three small children. The crime occurred at 4:00 in the afternoon on one of the busiest days of the year. We want our community to know that our office will always prosecute to the fullest those that endanger our families and children.”
