All-around effort leads Cairo past Worth Co. HS 4-3, Cairo JV victorious over TCC

An impressive two-way performance from Cage Cox led the Cairo Syrupmakers to a 4-3 win Tuesday over Worth County, as Cox came up huge at the dish and on the mound.

Cox racked up four RBIs on one hit for Syrupmakers. He homered in the fifth inning.

Also getting hits for Cairo were Koby Pryz, Myles Knight, Parker Duncan and Brick Kinni.

Cox worked out of five tough situations on the mound. He pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs on eight hits. Cox faced his toughest moment in the sixth inning.

Gowdy took the loss for Worth Cunty. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed one run.

The bottom of the first saw Worth County take an early lead, 1-0. The threat began with a single by Gowdy. Moore singled, bringing home Cox.

The game’s last lead went to Cairo, thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a home run by Cox.

Cairo Syrupmakers JV seize victory thanks to late double, drop Thomas County Central 11-7

Cairo Syrupmakers JV and Thomas County Central exchanged the lead seven times on Wednesday, but Cairo Syrupmakers JV ended up on top with an 11-7 win in seven innings over Thomas County Central.

Cairo Syrupmakers JV took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. Cairo Syrupmakers JV went up for good on a two-run double by #14 off Drew Leverette, bringing home #3 and #20.

Cairo Syrupmakers JV put up one run in each of the first, third and fifth. In the first, Cairo Syrupmakers JV scored on an error, scoring #11.

After a quick strike from Cairo Syrupmakers JV, Thomas County Central responded with one run in the fifth. Thomas County Central scored on a passed ball.

Cairo’s JV team also beat Worth County 7-1 on Monday.
