The Georgia State Patrol, along with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, are participating in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program.
State troopers from the Georgia State Patrol’s Colquitt, Ga., post, along with Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies, will be walking in the Bainbridge Christmas Parade on Thursday, Dec. 11.
State troopers will be driving a new GSP blue-and-grey patrol car, while Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin will be driving a 1964 Ford Galaxy 500, also known as the Mayberry Sheriff’s Patrol car.
Citizens who want to help the state troopers and deputies gather Toys for Tots are asked to bring a new, unwrapped for a boy or girl to the Bainbridge Christmas parade. As the deputies and state troopers are walking along Shotwell Street, get their attention and give them your toy donation. These toys will be distributed throughout our community to children who otherwise might only receive one or two small gifts under the their tree this Christmas. Our goal for the parade will be to fill both patrol cars with toys.
State troopers will also be at the Bainbridge Walmart collecting toys on Wednesday, December 3, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Please help us make a child’s Christmas a little brighter this year by donating a toy.
