Two women killed in Colquitt County accident

Two Norman Park, Ga., women lost their lives following a head-on collision with a semi-trailer truck on Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 319 South in Norman Park, Ga., a town in Colquitt County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Chevrolet Impala was traveling south on U.S Highway 319 when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a semi-trailer truck.

Cathy Ann Parrish, 40, passed away at the site of the accident. Her passengers, Sarah McKinnon and Shirley Scott, were taken to area hospitals on emergency medical helicopters.

McKinnon later passed away from her injuries at a Tallahassee, Fla., hospital. Scott is being treated at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville.

The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
