Georgia DOT Announces U.S. 27/SR 1 Traffic Shift

What: Traffic will be shifted so contractors can remove the old roadway and begin building the new roadbed adjacent to the new northbound lanes.

This is part of the project to widen and reconstruct 7.945 miles of U.S. 27/SR1 beginning at the Bluffton Bypass in Clay County and extending north of Carnegie Road/Vilulah Church Road in Randolph County.

As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the area.

When: Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Where: U.S. 27/SR 1 beginning at milepost 7.84 in Clay County and extending north to milepost 1.6 in Randolph County (approximately 1,056 feet north of Vilulah Church Road).
