The accident happened at the intersection of East Shotwell Street and the U.S. 27/84 bypass, near the oil terminals.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety officers, the three vehicles involved in the accident were attempting to merge onto Shotwell Street / U.S. 84 East from the bypass.

The driver of a BMW 325i sedan collided into the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe which was waiting to yield onto Shotwell Street, Sgt. Ray Cox of BPS said. Once hit, the Chevrolet Tahoe then ran into the back of a Chevrolet Malibu.

The front end of the BMW was severely damaged. The drivers of the BMW and the Chevrolet Tahoe were taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance, according to Sgt. Cox, however the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. Both the BMW and the Malibu were towed away from the scene. An absorbent material had to be laid down on the road after the BMW began leaking fluids.

The Georgia State Patrol in Colquitt, Ga., is investigating the accident.

  1. That area is awful. People who are coming onto 84 from the bypass are bad about pulling into traffic. They don’t look or yield to see if the other vehicle is moving, or even can move, over!
