Residents of Donalsonville will see their monthly utility bills go up slightly.
The water and sewer monthly base rate is going up by one dollar.
It will now cost $.20 more per thousand gallons of water used.
The increase will go to keep payment on track for Donalsonville’s state-of-art Marty Shingler Waste Water Treatment Facility.
It is a 20 year loan with the city paying the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority 3-percent interest on the facility.
Effective immediately all City of Donalsonville water and sewage utility bills not paid by 9 a.m. on the next business day after the 20th of the month will be assessed a $25 penalty and the customer’s utilities will be disconnected by 5 p.m. on that day.
