Dixie Dandy, an independent grocery store in Bainbridge, is getting some positive feedback for its efforts to help senior citizens out with their monthly food bill.
This week, Dixie Dandy began a weekly promotion in which senior citizens–persons over the age of 62–will get 10 percent off their groceries on Tuesdays.
Store manager Mark Goodman said a friend in the grocery business in Atlanta told him about a similar idea and after giving it some thought, he brought it to Dixie Dandy.
“Many of our customers are senior citizens and this is our way of reaching out to show our appreciation to them,” Goodman said. “The economy can still be tough, especially on people with fixed incomes, so we just wanted to do something nice for them.”
Dixie Dandy is located on Dothan Road / U.S. 84 West in Bainbridge. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and is closed Sunday.
